Sovereign is a showy split-corona daffodil with a broad, ruffled collar of yellow-orange that almost obscures the white petals. For people who equate "daffodil" with the familiar yellow trumpets of early spring, it is an eye-opener to say the least. The flowers are huge - nearly 3 inches across.

Sovereign is one of the later introductions from the famous split corona daffodil hybridizer Jaap Gerritsen. It is a seedling of, and a great improvement on, the well-known Orangery. The flower is much bigger than that of Orangery and its color and shape are much nicer.
