Anemone Blue Shades

Anemone blanda

Daisy-like flowers measuring 2-3 inches across open broad and flat in the sun, closing at night and on cloudy days. Their color ranges from deep lavender to a pale mauve that verges on white. Despite the name, true blue is not in the repertoire. Beautiful on its own but perhaps most valuable as a companion for other Early-Mid bloomers, which include early-flowering tulips and a host of daffodils.

Item # 6011
Height 4—6 inches
Sunlight Part (3-4 hours sun per day)

?

?
Hardy in USDA zones 5a to 8b in the South or 9b on the West Coast. Prechill in zones 7b and warmer in the South, Southwest, and California.
Bloom Time Early-Mid
Bloom times are relative within the spring bulb season, which varies from place to place and year to year. They are intended to help you plan a sequence of bloom from Very Early season to Very Late season. About two weeks separate Early from Mid and Mid from Late. The start and duration of bloom is heavily dependent on the weather. Warm temperatures speed up growth and flowering; cold temperatures slow them down.

Planting Instructions

Prefers dappled shade in most climates; will tolerate full sun in northern regions. Grows best in soil that has been loosened before planting. It’s hard to tell top from bottom on anemone tubers, but it doesn’t matter which end is up: The tubers know to send shoots up and roots down.

Depth of Planting Hole 2 inches
Spacing 2 inches apart

Moving and Dividing Daffodils

The ideal time to move or divide daffodils is when the foliage has collapsed and has turned mostly but not completely brown. For most daffodils, this time comes in late spring or early summer.
