Here’s an effective and efficient way to plant bulbs in rows, whether in a cultivated field or in turf. Hitch the machine to a tractor, fill the hopper with bulbs, lift the rear end to drive the front into the soil, then pull the machine forward. The disc slices into the soil, and the wedge immediately behind opens the soil up. A small conveyor that is turned by the rear wheels drops bulbs from the hopper into the soil through an opening behind the wedge. The wheels at the back close the soil over the bulbs and firm it. You can plant thousands of bulbs per hour this way. Ideal for small-scale U-pick farms, cut-flower farms, or municipal plantings.
