Peruvian Amaryllises
The Dutch are known for growing and breeding beautiful amaryllises, but amaryllises aren’t native to the Netherlands any more than tulips are. Today’s amaryllises are all descended from wild plants that were brought to Europe from Central and South America. So bulbs from Peru can hardly be called a foreign concept—to the contrary!
Because the bulbs are grown outdoors instead of in greenhouses, as they are in the Netherlands, Peruvian amaryllises are a little less expensive than their Dutch counterparts. On the other hand, the range of choices is thus far limited: The broadest selection of the most beautiful varieties is still found in the Netherlands.
Colorblends offers several Peruvian amaryllises in bulk for customers looking to buy in volume, whether for retail sale or gift giving. These bulbs are packed and sold only in increments of 20. Please note: The Peruvian bulbs are LARGE (32-34cm), the same as our Dutch bulbs. Size matters!
