Darwin hybrid tulips are known for their robust growth, large flowers and bold colors. In the northern half of the country, they also have the ability to come back and bloom reasonably well for two or three springs (see our Perennial Tulips page for more information).
Darwin hybrids are the quintessential midseason landscape tulips. Warm colors predominate, but there are now more cool colors to choose from. Whatever its shade, a Darwin hybrid tulip always looks good standing in a pool of grape hyacinths, which bloom at exactly the same time.
